This resource includes lesson plans and quizzes designed to teach middle school students how to repair and upgrade salvaged computers. Once repaired, students take computers home for their and their family’s use. The curriculum addresses the environmental and community impact of repairing technology and equips students with valuable technical skills.
This guide includes six modules guide for implementing the Computer Club program. Lessons can be combined or taught discretely, based on student progress. Each module includes: subject matter, desired outcome, materials required, introduction, demonstration, practice and assessment. Modules should take between 20-40 minutes to complete.
The program is expanding and these materials will be augmented as they come online.

Alfond Youth & Community Center created an after-school program to teach middle school students how to repair and upgrade salvaged computers for donation to under-resourced families. The class teaches upcycling used computers and learning about repair, self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability.
